Partridge Vineyard
What makes a great vineyard? The traditional train of thought was the age of the vines. We've learned that it's much more involved. Very young, well-located vineyards with carefully selected clones and rootstocks are now reliably producing top quality fruit throughout the Napa Valley. It is our commitment to using these finely cultivated grapes that has helped us to produce consistently excellent wines for nearly 20 years.
In 2008, our desire to plant Estate vineyards came to fruition. The Partridge Vineyards are situated on about 4 acres of our St. Helena property where cool Pacific breezes from the north reach our vineyards earlier, cooling vines quickly and delivering graceful, intense fruit with concentration and depth. Evenings typically cool substantially, and spring mornings can be chilly.
The majority of the Partridge Vineyard is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (clones 29 and 337), but we also chose to plant a small amount of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc to be used for blending during the winemaking process.
